What type of soil do clematis prefer?

Clematis prefer a slightly acidic soil, with a pH of 6.5 to 7.0. You should be sure that your clematis are positioned so that their roots stay cool. Depending on weather and how your soil drains, you may need to water your clematis several times a week.
