Stone Mulch
Donīt use decorative pebbles or stones as a mulch around most young perennials. These materials really absorb and retain heat from the sun. This means that stone mulch can overheat the plants' roots and cause too much stress on them. Stone mulch works well for plants that are drought tolerant, such as yucca and cacti.
