October 17, 2003, Newsletter Issue #191: Frost Proofing Your Garden

Tip of the Week

Move all tender plants inside to a sheltered area. clustering them together under a porch or stairs can help conserve warmth and moisture.

At night when frost is forecast, hose down under eaves and water plants thoroughly. This helps protect against dehydration caised by freezing temperatures.

Finally, use an anti-transpirant like Cloud Cover or Wilt-pruf on all tender plants. It will protect them from all but the most severe frost.
