For blossom end rot on tomatoes (a dark brown or black sunken spot on the end opposite the stem), keep nonfat dry milk on hand. You can mix it with water and spray on the tomatoes as needed, or use every three weeks to prevent rot. Spray in the morning, so that the plants will have time to absorb the nutrients, and dry off before temperatures drop at night. Calcium in the milk powder prevents this problem.
