June 22, 2001, Newsletter Issue #76: Raised Beds

Tip of the Week

Your raised beds needn`t be made of anything elaborate. Stone, railroad ties, brick: anything that allows you to build up at least 18 inches of good soil will do. Use top quality amendments: cottonseed or bloodmeal, well rotted compost and manure. Add garden sulfur and bone meal, watering in well at least 3 days before planting. This should allow you to grow great vegetables and plants throughout the year.
