Non-Blooming TulipsMany tulips are unreliable perennial bloomers. The most common reason for a lack of blossoms after the first year is that the bulbs are planted too shallowly. Always plant tulips at least four times as deep as their height and be sure to fertilize them well each fall. To be sure your tulips continue to bloom each year, look for proven naturalizers, such as Darwin hybrids and Kaufmanniana tulips.
