Planting GarlicGarlic, a member of the allium family, is very easy to plant. Before planting, break apart the mother bulb into individual cloves. Plant the cloves with the pointed end up, about four inches apart, and cover them with one to two inches of soil in mild winter areas. Cover them three to four inches in areas where the ground freezes in winter.
