Planting PoppiesWhen growing poppies, keep in mind that they are an ephemeral lot. By midsummer there is usually no trace of their blossoms or foliage, which leaves a gap in your garden. Think ahead and plant other perennials to fill in those gaps. Baby's breath, showy stonecrop, heleniums, late blooming daylilies, and even some taller yarrows are great for the job.
