September 19, 2003, Newsletter Issue #187: Planning Your Spring Garden

Tip of the Week

If you just don`t have the time to start building a fresh healthy bed of soil this fall, you can do something to get a head start. Plant alfalfa or red clover as a cover crop. As soon as it greens up and the plants are about 2 inches high, simply turn them under the earth. This will enrich and renew tired spent soil.
