October 18, 2002, Newsletter Issue #143: Imagine Your Dream Garden

Tip of the Week

Give your garden that extra punch of color through the entire year. In the spring, ideally, you want a mix of early and late- blooming bulbs, azalea, camellia or peonies as your permanent background. Poppies, violas, pansies and stock, perform fill-in duty.
Late spring through summer should see vines like clematis, honeysuckle, wisteria or lilac. Add summer flowering bulbs, and a mix of annuals and perennials like snapdragons, scabiosa, buddelia, salvia, lobelia and of course roses. Planting this way, ensures you a steady stream of color all season long.
