August 31, 2001, Newsletter Issue #86: Harvesting Herbs

Tip of the Week

Dry herbs on a wooden clothes dryer. Tie small sprays of herbs together with rubber bands and hang them with Christmas tree hooks.

Donīt throw away all those pretty spice bottles. Use them to store your own dried herbs at the end of the season.

A great way to preserve herbs for use in soups and other dishes is by freezing them in water. Simply place your chopped herbs in an ice-cube tray, fill with water, and freeze. Then remove them, and store in a plastic freezer bag.
