Tip of the Week

There are some colorful and interesting plants for your indoor decorating scheme. Nest a grouping of plants in a flat basket or wooden wine crate, lined with spaghnum or Spanish mosses. Before you place the plants, line the basket or container with 8-10ml plastic. Use plants such as croton, coleus, kalanchoe, ornamental peppers and Rieger begonias for a colorful grouping. Leave them in their pots. Water well, but avoid water pooling in the bottom of the basket.
If you want an unusual and gorgeous plant, grow bananas! With their huge glossy green leaves and luxurious growth, they lend a tropical touch to your garden. Homegrown banana fruit is very sweet, much better than the supermarket varieties. Try the dwarf varieties, rajuapuri or Dwarf Cavendish.
