July 20, 2001, Newsletter Issue #80: Drying Roses

Tip of the Week

Cut flowers you want to use for drying when they are in full bloom for the most impressive results.
And pick flowers for drying in the afternoon after the dew is off.
To dry flowers, remove excess leaves and tie a bunch of stems together. Hang them up to dry in a dry, airy location. Do not place them in sunlight as this will fade the colors from the blooms. Dry until the stems and flowers are quite stiff and brittle. Depending on the conditions, the process can take 2 or 3 weeks.
